Was very traumatic.

My grandmother lives 20 minutes from the beach, so we thought it would be a good opportunity to let the boy feel the sand under his toes. First of all, we did take him right at his bedtime. Second, he seemed very upset that we took off his shoes.

We thought seashells might make things better. He liked them, but it didn't make redeem the torture we were putting him through.

So, so pitiful

Nothing was really helping, but it was better when he wasn't standing in the sand.

We did manage to get a decent family picture, despite a miserable little boy.

We don't know what made him so upset: the shoe removal, the sand, the loud waves, moving water, tiredness...hopefully he won't always be that unhappy at the beach!

I don't think we'll have to worry about any surfing problems for a while.
He was fascinated by the seashells, however. On the way home, he put them into a cup and took them out again and again.
Call me crazy, but I think Josiah was lamenting the fact that his Nana's family lives 20 minutes from the beach, and yet somehow Nana and Pop never managed to take Mama and Uncle Parker there. That's right, buddy. Some things deserve a good cry...
Hey, we were always on the golf course with Granpa Hosea, Ronnie, and Ryan. And look how well that turned out. The Parkers just weren't beach people (looks like Josiah may not be one either.)
Besides, we took you to Hawaii instead. What is funny is that it took you 20 years to figure out that we were 20 minutes from the beach. And considering how well you like maps, too.
