Sitting Up

Micah's gotten really good at sitting up on his own. He's so cute playing with his toys like a big boy.

Except when they all get out of his reach and then it's very upsetting. Usually he's digging these rings and playing with his "piano."

And he loves his exersaucer!

O Christmas Tree!

Last week we went to go pick out our Christmas tree. It was our biggest tree so far, and it is beautiful!

Finding the perfect tree.

Me and my sweet baby. He likes hanging in the sling these days.

The whole family with our tree in the background.

Hanging the ornaments. We didn't plan very well; by the time we put lights on (OK, by the time Jonathan did most of that), Josiah was less excited about putting on the ornaments and Micah was ready for bed. I remember all those feelings as a child, waiting seemingly forever to everything to get set up!

It was fun for him to recognize several of the ornaments this year: Winnie the Pooh, Jemima Puddleduck, Bob and Larry. I showed him an ornament that had his picture from his first Christmas. I asked him who it was, and he answered, "That's Micah!" It was also fun to take him downstairs the first morning and turn on the lights (he had gone to bed before we could complete the process). His eyes really did light up, and he gave a genuine "Wow." This is going to be a fun Christmas!

More Thanksgiving

Here are a few more Thanksgiving pictures.

I love this picture because of the way Davis was looking at Josiah. J is "showing him" how to shake these jingle bells. We always talk about how Josiah is the Ryan of the next generation of cousins, and this picture embodies that to me.

Fun with Daddy, as usual!

By the way, Dad took most of these pictures of Thanksgiving. Thanks Daddy!

Micah Snuggles

Micah got lots of lovin' this week. His snuggles and laughs are pretty addictive.

Lots of Nana-love

Aunt Marisa got her share too.

And Aunt Rachel (although Josiah missed her a lot once she was gone, particularly her domino-building skills and her poppyseed bread).

Thanksgiving at Our House

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Parker and Rachel came over from Nashville, and Mom and Dad came up from Atlanta to stay the weekend with us. It was our first time hosting that many people for Thanksgiving, but we're thankful for our new location and house that allows us to do so. And I'm thankful for Mom, Rachel and Marisa for helping so much with all the preparations and everyone who helped with the cleaning - they made it pretty easy!

The other exciting thing about living in Hickory is that we're close to lots of family members. Aunt Marisa and Uncle Rusty were able to join us for Thanksgiving dinner because they live a short drive away now.

I think Aunt Risa really enjoyed her Micah-snuggles.

Uncle Rusty kept teasing Josiah about wanting his "leg meat." Josiah thought he was hilarious. I was really surprised that Josiah remembered Rusty from seeing him a year ago. He's a pretty memorable fella!

Micah-snuggles have healing powers.

We also got to visit with Ronnie's family. Also more Micah snuggling pictures are on their way.

Thanksgiving at the Moseleys

So I said I stopped birthday posts, right? Well once again, I'm posting a picture of someone on their birthday! Sooo...

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Mom, Mother-in-law, and Mimi! Have a wonderful day!

We had a great early Thanksgiving with the Moseleys on Tuesday. We had a delicious dinner and then Jonathan and his Dad ducked out to go to the Carolina basketball game.
Josiah had lots of fun playing with Caleb, but he actually hugged him so hard that he knocked him over a couple of times.

Anna with cutie Jacob, who we discovered is the world's hottest baby. He started sweating in his normal clothes. Apparently he spends most of his time indoors in a diaper because he's so hot-natured!

Hayride

Our church had a really fun chili cook-off a few weeks ago, and Josiah got to go on his first hayride with Daddy. Fun!

Smiling.

"Micah's Awake!"

Micah was taking his morning nap, and I thought Josiah went up to use the potty, but a few minutes later I heard, "Mama, Micah's awake!" I came up to find this...

Suspicious, but also pretty cute.

He asked to have a blanket so he could snuggle with Micah.

Fascinated by everything his brother does.

Anna's Musical and Happy Birthday!

I know I gave up my Happy Birthday posts, but I just happen to be posting these sweet pictures on Granddaddy's birthday, so I'm sending him a Happy Birthday shout-out!

We went up to Raleigh at the beginning of the month to see Anna perform in her school musical, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." She played Sally and was completely adorable. We were so proud of her!
Josiah sat still for the whole play and seemed to enjoy it. It was a very kid-friendly play with lots of short vignettes instead of a big story line, plus lots of singing and dancing.

Cute picture of Micah and Uncle David at lunch on Sunday.

Micah at 5 Months

I am way behind on blogging, but part of the reason is because Micah is five months old! And we have been trying to break him of some bad sleep habits that his parents have gotten him into. He's been nursing or walked to sleep mostly so far and has been doing pretty poorly at night. We checked back on our notes for Josiah, and we had already been doing some "sleep discipline" with him at four months. Oops! We've been trying to do better with routines and putting him in the bed awake and letting him try to sleep in his own (which entails some crying). He's been fighting it at bedtime big time, but ultimately he's been doing much better during the night.

He's still a sweetie during the day though! His favorite things to do are giggle at Josiah and Daddy (and sometimes Mama too).

He's been rolling and moving a lot more. He has flipped, but doesn't do it a lot. He has been grabbing everything and placing it directly in his mouth.

"Take that Mr. Giraffe! Go on and call me chubby-cheeks one more time!"

"Aw, I'm just kidding. I love you Mr. Giraffe."

Note: His skin is also very dry. We may eventually use up all our tub of Eucerin on him.
